If I run for Barangay Captain this May 14, would you vote for me? Would you campaign for me? Would you help me win the position?
Most of you would likely ask me these: What are your flat forms? How will you help improve the Barangay? Are you willing to give your very best for the good of the Barangay?
And my answers will likely be: I have good plans for the barangay such as this.. that.. this.. that! I will improve our barangay by doing this,.. doing that! I will give my all for the best interest of our barangay, PROMISE, PROMISE, PROMISE!
And suddenly, you are ready to vote for me. Campaign for me. And help me win the position. Easy job!
No wonder most of successful politicians are the liars, the thieves and the thick faces. Because most voters are dumb, forgetful and shallow minded. Save for the few like you. Yes you!
If you truly want the best candidate to win the elections, try to remember how he treated you before the election campaign. Try to remember how he treated people before he decides to run for the position. Try to remember how he contributed to the barangay's common problem as a private person. That way, you can see who has the heart of a true servant and who are just acting and pretending to be your friend just to win your vote.
Most candidates will beg, court, make promises and do all possible stunts just to get your votes. They smile at you, shake your hands, and act as if you are the most important person in the world. They will do every thing just to get your vote even buying it. But after the elections, Most politicians who wins become arrogant, authoritarian and acts as if you owe them something. They go back to their old self and you suffer another several years. When the elections is on again, they suddenly turn to become the clowns and get your vote again.
Sound familiar right?
So here's my advice: When you choose who to vote, try to close your eyes first. Remember those faces who are begging for your vote on how they treated you and the rest of fellow voters before they become candidates. Thats the best way to choose a candidate.
You cannot choose a good leader by listening to thier promises, but by looking back on what they did and accomplished in the past before they run for the election. Don't be swayed by good looks, cute smiles and pabebeh.
My pictures below are not campaign materials. They are examples of how true leaders looks like. Lovable, huggable and kissable! Sadly, these kind of faces don't run for barangay elective positions anymore. They run to stay physically fit or run from people trying to collect debts.
Happy voting everyone!
